The Ape and the Fox
Phaedrus
Retold* by Rohini Chowdhury
An Ape asked a Fox for part of her tail, so that he could cover his rear with it.
But the selfish Fox replied, “Even if my beautiful tail were to grow longer and more luxuriant than it is, I would rather drag it through mud and brambles than give you the tiniest part of it!”
A greedy person is not willing to give even if he has more than he needs.
